Parent-Student Collaboration with College Guidance Network
One roadmap. Two roles. Shared progress.

Why Collaboration Matters
Keeps everyone aligned
One shared roadmap reduces crossed wires about deadlines, documents, and next steps.
Fewer missed deadlines
SAT/ACT dates, FAFSA, college apps, scholarship windows—all tracked in one place with reminders.
Builds healthy ownership
Students lead their process; parents support without guesswork.
Less friction, more momentum
No more “Did you do it yet?” texts. Check off an item once and both of you see it’s done!
What the Collaboration feature is
A secure, shared view of a student’s college & career roadmap…
for one student and their parent/guardian. Work together across web and mobile with synced checklists, notes, and reminders.
Shared Roadmap & Checklist.
You both see the same plan. When either of you marks a task Done, it’s updated for both!
Shared context.
Task details, due dates, and notes keep everyone on the same page.

Full CGN access for collaborators.
Your collaborator can use the Roadmap, Resource Center, Office Hours, and Eva Success Tools on web and mobile.
Private by default.
Conversations with Eva (our AI guidance counselor) are private to your account and are not shared with collaborators.
Good to know:
You can rescind an invite or remove a collaborator at any time.
Here’s how it works:
1
Invite a collaborator.
From the Roadmap, open Collaborators → Invite. Enter their name and email.
2
They accept.
We email a secure link.
New to CGN? They’ll create a free account and are guided right to the shared roadmap.
3
Plan together.
Both of you can review tasks, check due dates, and mark items Done—everything stays in sync.
4
Control privacy & notifications.
Each person manages their own notification preferences. Eva chats remain private to the individual account.
5
Manage access anytime.
See invite status, resend an invite, or remove a collaborator from the same Collaborators panel.
Tips for making collaboration work
Set expectations up front
Decide who owns which tasks—testing, visits, financial aid—to avoid duplicate work.

Turn on SMS reminders (in Settings)

SMS reminders help you hit key dates without stress.
Celebrate wins!
When something gets checked Done, take the win—then pick the next step together!
